Political leaders from across Iraq continue to meet in Baghdad. They are trying to end the *** blocking the final proposal for a constitution. President Jalal Talibani has met with Kurdish, Shi'ite and Sunni delegates to discuss questions such as the influents of Islam. Delegates disagree about this and other issues. He said an agreement could be reached in time for parliament to approve a document by the August 15th time limit. Earlier, in Tikrit a bomber killed himself and at least 5 other people near a police station. In Baghdad, gunman killed 2 Oil Ministry officials and 3 Iraqi soldiers. And in the southern town of Samawah, one person was killed when protesters crashed with police.

The United States embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be closed Monday and Tuesday because of terror threats against American government buildings. American diplomat offices in the city of Jeddah and Dhahran also will close. An embassy statement urged American citizens in Saudi Arabia to be very careful. It also said that official has no details about the time or targets, other any possible attacks. The Saudi Interior Ministry also says it has no information about an immediate terror attack. Last month, the United States embassy warned Americans, the terrorists were likely planning new attacks. Members of the American military were also told not to travel around Saudi Arabia.
Israeli Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has resigned to protest the government’s plans withdraw from the Gaza Strip. Mr. Netanyahu has long opposed the plan. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon appointed deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as acting Finance Minister. The Israeli cabinet has voted to start the first part of the withdraw works on August 15th. Three Jewish settlements in Gaza are to be destroyed.
Iran again has said it will restart uranium enrichment activities this week. A Foreign Ministry official spoke in Tehran. He said operations at the Isfahan nuclear center will begin as soon as the International Atomic Energy Agency places cameras in the factory. The United Nation’s nuclear agency says the inspection equipment should be in place by the middle of the week. Last week, Iran rejected a European proposed assistance plan in return for hot divide country nuclear fuel work. Britain, France and Germany say they will ask the U.N. Security Council to order restrictions against Iran if the nuclear issue cannot be settled any other way.
